About - Suzan Bridge
As a self taught watercolour artist I have spent many happy years learning my craft, it’s been a journey adding to my skill set and defining my own personal ‘style’.
Living on the edge of the Yorkshire and Lancashire Dales I am constantly inspired, with new ideas for paintings, from the natural world that surround me in this beautiful part of the world in which I am fortunate enough to live.
Hopefully you will enjoy browsing my website and looking at my paintings and maybe they may inspire you a little also. Maybe they could even move you enough to want one for your wall – to provide you with a little bit of inspiration, wherever you are in the world.
Painting is a huge part of my life and my artistic passion is flowers. I love the vibrancy and colour variations and I try and capture a sense of this in my ‘free flow’ watercolour painting by using the water and translucent paint to move around the paper and create rudimentary forms and then adding details to make the picture come alive.
I additionally work in the same free flow style on the medium of silk, which I then embellish with machine embroidery, beadwork and extra textures to create exciting three dimensional paintings.
I have previously (2013) exhibited in the IIkley Art Trail, had a one woman show on ‘free flow flower paintings’ at the Art Shop - Ilkley (2014) and held workshops and demonstrations at numerous venues including the Ilkley Art Show, Menston Art Group and Headingley Art Group.
In 2017 and 2018 I was part of the Trawden Artists & Makers (TAM) town trail and also during this last year ran a number of workshops in Trawden Village Hall and at my home covering watercolour flower painting and silk painting.
